Refection for 30th April 2020

Dear Friends,

I have been thinking about the frustrations of The Lockdown.  But then I thought the alternatives could be a lot worse!  Because…..if you lived in a war zone,  you would have to stay at home whilst bombs were dropping all around you.  You may not have running water or electricity – and going to the shop for food (for items which may be very limited), means risking your life.  Then there is sickness and injury without medical care close by.  Now Lockdown doesn’t seem quite so bad does it?

So instead of asking God for things in our prayers, let’s give thanks in our prayers for SAFE HOMES INCLUDING UTILITIES,  FOOD,  A GOVERNMENT WHO PAYS OUR WAGES WHILST WE ARE UNABLE TO WORK,  THE NHS AND CARERS AND THINK OF OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN THE WORLD  WHO DO NOT HAVE THESE THINGS AT ALL DURING THE PANDEMIC.

Here is a Bible passage:  1Peter 1, 6-7 Good News Translation

6 Be glad about this, even though it may now be necessary for you to be sad for a while because of the many kinds of trials you suffer. 7 Their purpose is to prove that your faith is genuine. Even gold, which can be destroyed, is tested by fire; and so your faith, which is much more precious than gold, must also be tested, so that it may endure. Then you will receive praise and glory and honour on the Day when Jesus Christ is revealed.

Love and Blessings from Sue Garfield
