ECO CHURCH NEWS
THOUGHTS ON NET ZERO
Recently there has been a lot of emphasis
on NET ZERO in the press and on TV.
I have deliberately avoided this topic for several reasons, because:
1. It divides people.
2. Net Zero is probably unattainable for several decades, if at all.
3. If we get biodiversity and habitat restoration sorted this would help
considerably to solve many climate related problems, and
4. Over-population and over-consumption need to be addressed.
So, over the next few months, in the limited space available,
I explain why.
So Item 1 – It Divides People
As Christians we need to unite people and not divide them.
A Rocha and Eco-Church does this, along with many other
organisations with ethical standards. It’s all about looking at
your own lifestyle and asking God for guidance on how to
gradually alter things. Groups like Just Stop Oil, etc. only
divide people and cause chaos.
Governments implementing policies are usually too slow or
have vested interests, which can again divide people.
So the power for change lies with you and me and small
groups of like-minded people working together for good,
where we live in whatever part of the world you happen to be.

P.S. A Nuthatch and Song Thrust have been heard singing
in Janet’s front garden next door to the Mission. These are
not common birds these days, so we are quite pleased about it.
